This page enables you to sign up as a Supporter of the Campaign for Equal Marriage in the Church of England. You can sign up as an individual or on behalf of an organization, or both. Anyone can sign up – see this FAQ.
If you’re signing up as an individual, the only information we need is your your full name and email address. We need to know your email address so that your signature can be verified.
If you’re signing up as an organization, the name of the organization is also required, together with its contact details so we can check they have agreed to sign up.
Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).
At the end of the signup form is a checkbox labelled ‘Provide more information?‘, which is displayed if you have chosen to support us as an individual. We invite you to check this box and provide various other information about yourself, in the new fields that will appear.
This is entirely optional, but it will be very helpful to us as we progress the Campaign, and we hope you will feel able to provide at least some of this extra information, which will of course be held in strictest confidence.
Unless you choose to allow it, by checking the ‘Public display?’ checkbox, nothing will be publicly displayed. You have the option to support us silently or publicly, as you choose.
If you do check the ‘Public display?’ checkbox, the information in the fields that have a wide green left border will be displayed publicly in the List of Supporters on this website.
Other information, including your email address, will never be displayed publicly or shared with anyone else.
All information displayed publicly on this website (in the List of Supporters) will be in the public domain, and we have no control over how it may be used by others.
If what you type in a field is invalid – for example, if a required field is left empty, or you provide an invalid email address (such as david’gmail.com) – submitting the form will fail. The problem field(s) will be highlighted with a red border and and an error message or messages will be displayed above the table. Correct the error(s) and try again to submit the form.
Most mistakes aren’t particularly important, but if you mistype your email address (e.g. laura@yahooo.com, with an extra ‘o’) the acknowledgement email sent on submission will never reach you; it will bounce back or go to the wrong person. Therefore you won’t receive your Private Link and won’t be able to click it to verify your signup – and the reminder facility won’t work either. This is why we ask people to check their email address carefully.
After you’ve submitted this form, you will be taken to a personalized ‘Thank you’ page, so you know it’s worked. You can just close the ‘Thank you’ page. But you’re not quite finished yet!
Next you need to check your email – the address you used to sign up. You should have received an email with the subject ‘Thank you for signing up as a Supporter of the Equal Campaign’. Emails don’t always arrive instantly, so you may need to check again later, or see if it’s gone into your spam/junk folder.
Please read the email and – the vital thing – click the Private Link that it contains. This automatically marks your signup as verified. Until you do that, your signature won’t count – you won’t be a verified Supporter until you’ve clicked that link.
