We got married as soon as the law changed in 2014. It was important to us to make that commitment to each other and before God, and we were thrilled to have the same rights as a straight couple. It was a perfect day, full of love, laughter and family like any wedding should be. Our wonderful vicar conducted a blessing service for us in church, and we felt so uplifted by our church community. Though Ruth had to give up dreams of ordination to marry Ellie, we don’t regret a thing. Coming up to our fifth wedding anniversary, we’ve been through so much together. Our marriage is stronger than ever and we now have a beautiful baby boy to complete our family.
