The Bishop of Newcastle (in Australia) looks set to approve same-sex marriages

The Anglican Church of Australia is deeply divided on issues of sexuality, with the Diocese of Sydney being very conservative and others much less so.  The Bishop of Newcastle, to the north of Sydney, has suggested in a recent pastoral letter that the divisions and lack of common ground are such that his diocese may go it alone in authorising the marriage of same-sex couples in its churches.
